The advance of planting in Argentina rises to 86.8% of the 16.5 MHa projected for the 2021/22 campaign after a one-week advance of 5.3 points, according to TF Agroeconomic. “The absence of rain, together with the high temperatures registered in the last seven days, delayed the advance of the seeders, with NOA, NEA and the southeast of Buenos Aires being the most compromised. While in the far north the planting window extends until the end of this month, the south of Buenos Aires depends on rain next week to meet planting plans”, he comments.
“Collaborators indicate that part of the planned crops could be left out of the production cycle if there is no rain in the next ten days, which could affect the national projection. This week, 25.4% of the soybean area is starting to flower (R1) with 58.2% of the implanted surface reporting a water condition between adequate and excellent”, completes the consultancy.

Oil World, an entity specializing in projections of the global oilseeds market, argues that this price level “does not seem sustainable in 2022”. For the next season, a strong recovery in production and exports should accompany the growth in demand, which “shows signs of a drop in oil prices for the 2021/22 season”, he explains.

“In fact, it is likely that the downward trajectory has already started, considering that from the end of October to December, the prices of soy, palm and sunflower oil accumulated falls of 6.7%, 10.4% and 4, 5%, respectively”, he indicates.

“After three consecutive sessions of high, in which it accumulated an appreciation of 2.44%, the dollar closed in decline in the session this Thursday (6). Analysts attribute today’s movement to technical adjustments and natural profit-taking operations, on a day of losses in the American currency against emerging currencies that are more closely linked to the real, such as the Mexican peso and the South African rand,” he concludes.
